Questions:

Q 1. Can D1 and D2 lines of sodium light be resolved in second-order spectrum if the number of lines in the given grating is 450? Explain.  $\lambda_{D1}=5890 A^0$ and  $\lambda_{D1}=5890 A^0$. [10 marks]

Q 2. Discuss the phenomena of Fraunhofer diffraction at single slit and how that the intensities of successive maxima are nearly in the ratio of $1:\frac4{9\pi^2}:\frac4{25\pi^2}:\frac4{49\pi^2}$ .[20 marks]
